My Blood Sugar always goes up when I go swimming before breakfast - last week, for instance, my BS was 5.6 before swimming (half an hour's worth) and it was 8.9 afterwards. This is not a one-off, it's consistently like this. I queried this with my HCP and he said that it was probably caused by the act of going to the swimming baths and meeting other people - which then causes the release of adrenaline, which in turn leads to the release of glucagon from the liver - hence the increase in BGs. |

Hi Novorapidboi, I play a bit of 5aside(Im know beckham lol) and gym(or arnie lol), and have found blood test increases if no QA remaining in system. What I have been doing and seems to work is have 2cp before excercising and 1 unit of QA, which was difficult to get head round injection before excercising and it seems to work. But I have to watch results for remainder of day as blood tests do tend to drop while body recovering. |

not sure if I'm reading it right but it looks like you had a BG of 4.2 and did your 2 hours exercicise on that - is that right? Maybe you went hypo and your glycogen stores kicked in so it read as 14.7? So 14.7 is a post hypo rebound? |

As you can see my problem with rising blood sugar has been taken over by lows throughout yesterday and this morning............ |

the lows are definately caused by the exercise. generally the effects of exercise will be felt for 24 hours afterwards. Maybe more, maybe less as we are all different. It is basically the fact that your muscles etc are still using more energy ( from blood sugar) than normal. I always had to lower my QA the morning after an evening at the gym, and sometimes my BI depended on the level of exercise. Sadly I saved money by not going to the gym and now just cycle as its generally cheaper ;-) |
