Hi All,

This morning on waking at 8.49am i did a blood test (hubby thought i may have been hypo as i was sweating & huffing & puffing) & my bs was 13.7. I'm not a breakfast person until somewhere between 1000am - 1100am. What would you have done about the high bs ie done an extra injection, do a correction dose when i have my breakfast.......?

I'd have done a correction dose with my breakfast dose.
The only time I seem to do a correction dose with out a dose connected with actual intake of food, is before bed. Having said that, I don't seem to need too many corrections Wink

If you find your BG at that level first thing several days in a row, you may need to look at your backgound insulin. What BI are you on?

I would have my usual yoghurt and inject for it, plus correction...............................due to the dawn phenomenon, just a correction alone would not suffice.......... Wink

Might be worth seeing if your Specialist Nurse can set up some continuous glucose monitoring for you, it might be useful. When I did this I found that from the moment I woke (7-ish) when my bloods would be almost perfect, over the next few hours it rose steadily from 4.5 to 12.2 (10ish) without having anything to eat yet and at the time when I wanted to eat I needed a large corrective dose.

I have this problem too if I don't eat immediately I waken. Have you discovered any solution?
