SE KENT PCT DAFNE scrapped

All, If anyone reads this, we need your help. The wonderful South East Kent PCT has decided to stop DAFNE in favour of BERTIE. The arguement is it is only a 4 day course and so they will be able to offer more courses. This seems more than a little unlikely. As ever I suspect its a 'done deal' but if like me you are unhappy about this change and are a graduate from South East Kent, please respond to this thread. I intend to contact the local PCT and the local MP to ask some pertinent questions, such as what ongoing support will there be for DAFNE graduates, how do they explain that BERTIE is not fully QUIPP acredited despite the PCT claiming it is.

I would be happier if I believed that this was being done for the benefit of Diabetics within the PCT's area, but I suspect it is just a tick the box/cost cutting exercise.

I did my DAFNE course at Medway Maritime. Not sure if its in SE Kent PCT but I have no access to DAFNE trained nurse since the last one left a year ago. She left partly because she couldn't get funding to hold courses.

Do you think staff could still be trained up in DAFNE in order to support those graduates that remain?
