Hi Guys
As a type dibetic of 25 years i thought i knew all there was to know about Type 1 diabettes , how wrong i was.
I completed the Dafne course 3 weeks ago, after an initial setteling down period and working out my ratio i have to say that i have never been in more control than i am at the moment. My confidence is sky high, i dont worry about doing anything at all as i am fully aware of my sugar levels. and the bonus is you can eat what you want to when ever you want to !!.
I know im not telling you anything you dont already know but i just wanted to shout it out !!!!!!!!
I am hoping to get a pump in the new year as in my line of work i find it very difficult to check my levels on the odd occasion when perhaps i am feeling a bit low. Dafne has certainly set me on the right track to get one though.
Regards.............Macka !!!!

Welcome from me..........
I can totally understand how you feel as I felt the same, I still do I suppose however my own personal diabetes management has evolved from the simple DAFNE principals to one more suited to my own body......
This will happen with everyone.........
Has the decision to go on a pump been made or does it depend on the outcome of the DAFNE program.......?

Thanks for the welcome , no i need to see the pump Dr at the hospital at the beggining of Jan so hopefully i will be accepted to have one, we will just have to see, I am not sure what the protocols are for getting one, i had heard that people who dont control very well seem to get them as they are struggling with levels etc, if this is true i dont think i will be succesfull as i control my diabettes very well, my reason for wanting a pump is because in my job i struggle to find time and privacy to inject.
once again thanks for the welcome

there are guidelines.........lots of hypos due to sensitivity...............HbA1c of above 8.5 even after intensive MDI............they are the main ones I suppose.................being able to manage your diabetes or at least have the skills and knowledge to do so is a positive, as its the most intensive option and takes a lot of work.............
I wouldn't of thought your circumstances would get you one, as most work places should accommodate you, if they are not that's a problem, however its a postcode lottery, you could get one very easily where as I, in Scotland would struggle to even discuss the possibility........
