Hey everybody, I've been doing the Dafne way for 2 months now. Have been diabetic for 7 years. My readings are worse now then when I guessed how much insulin to take.. well that's how it feels, to be honest I didn't test very much, until now.....just so annoyed because I am putting everything into the Dafne way and it just isn't happening. |

Hello I'm sorry to hear that. i did Dafne probably about 5 years ago now or more and from memory it took me at least 3 - 5 months and to get things to a stage where I understood what I was doing and felt in control. The reason was that it took that time of writing results down and looking back, analysing them and spotting patterns. Also I needed to remember that every day in my life is different. ie. I eat different things every day, have different amounts of exercise, sometimes dirnk alcohol, have a cold etc, etc. Don't be too hard on yourself it just takes time and the benefits were worth it. I wiould go out and enjoy your dinner and not worry. My consultant always told me one blood sugar that wasn't right was neither here nor there so just do the best you can. I eat out quite a bit and even after years of practice it's really difficult to get carbs right in restaurants and being currently addicted to MasterChef and seeing the hidden sugars etc that is put in food I can see why. I hope this is of some encouragement and Happy Birthday for tomorrow. |

Hi TcMonkey, I completed Dafne in March and the most important advice stick with it as it does work and become second nature. I am my own worst critic and if things dont work im guilty of over analizing. I never used to test and to be honest relied on luck for many years. My blood sugars are better but when I completed course they went bad, until I got on top of ratios and real world living. Your not on your own and very good sources of advice are available on here and your Health Care consultants. Keep smiling and have a great birthday!!! Dean |
