Hi,
My MIL is Type 2 diabetic (i'm type 1) & i was wondering if the carbs & cals visual book would be any good for her. I've got the large & the pocket versions. My MIL was diagnosed in June last year (2010).

It would be helpful for her I suppose............
knowing the right portion sizes and different types of carbohydrate that effect her are very valuable bits of information......
depending on what medication she is on, it is probably likely she will not be able to correct high blood sugar with a shot of insulin, so being knowledgeable on the foods and portions that work best for her is really important.....
getting a blood glucose monitor and sticks would be good also, so she can experiment with different foods, to see how they effect her at 1.5-2 hours after meals, and to see what levels she wakes on, and before meals.............she shouldn't/wont need to test all the time though..........once she has discovered what works best for her anyway........
