too much BI

hi need some help just taken my bi insulin but have taken my morning dose which is 18 units instead of 8 units that i take at night Any help please as how to compensate for this Sad

Hi Bakerboy,
How did you get on?
Sorry but I have never taken too much of my BI before and it isn't something my course covered other than taking too much QA.
I guess it depends on which type of BI you are on as some of them have peaks and different onsets and durations.
Given that it's now 10 hours since you posted I assume you would be due to take your morning dose soon?
Not sure what to advise there, I would contact your DSN.
If it was me I guess I would have been checking my blood every hour and try taking slower releasing CARBS (medium to low GI) to try and keep up with the work of the BI but this is just a guess as not something that was covered (that I remember) on my course.

thanks for your reply everything worked out fine did 2 bg checks during night at 1.30 am bg was 8.2 after taking 100ml lucozade plus 1 milky way before bed at 11.00 pm,checked again at 3.15 am bg 7.7 took some more lucozade ,this morning 7.45 am bg was 6.2 so all was well .Hope i dont do this again .Once again thanks for your concern Very Happy
