Graphs - now I can really see the difference

Hi Simon

I have noticed that the seven day all results graph plots each result an equal distance apart, rather than spacing them according to the actual time of the reading - is this what most people prefer?

Stew (+ everybody) - We've modified the trend chart so that you can exclude specific lines. You'll see now that when the trend chart loads up there is a 'tick' in each of the coloured boxes corresponding to a time of day line. If you click this tick, that line should be hidden from view. You can un-hide the line by clicking the box again.

On the topic of printing we're having a few problems converting the charts to static images, we are working on this and hope to have a better answer for your soon.

Rachel - I'm not sure on this, you're the first person to mention it, but I wouid be interested to see what other users think. It's a lot more dificult to spread the readings according to actual time. This would require the bottom axis of the graph to have thousands of possible plot points (maybe even down to the seconds level), and this could potentially slow the site down whilst this is handled. We'll do some testing to see if we can make it more efficient.

Thanks,

Simon

I have printed and emailed graphs to people by doing a screen print and then pasting it into word - this works fine.

Simon - with regard to the axis, maybe the points could be plotted to the nearest half hour? I am not techie so I have no idea if this is possible, how long it would take. It is not a big problem - I find the graphs really useful. I have tried and failed miserably doing something similar in excel myself.

Hi Simon,
I find trend graphs very usefull but entering the data is a laborious task. I have a Bayer Contour meter that allows me to input data from the meter direct to my computor using a program supplied by the meter manufacturer to produce various graphs and lists.
Would it be possible to design the site to to accept this information from meters that have a download facility?

Thanks for a super Site, John

Hi John,

Thanks for your feedback - this issue has been raised before and one of our users is looking into doing this for his OneTouch Meter. I'll look into how we would go about extracting the info from the Bayer Contour meter, but this is a feature we intend to have on the site. Unfortunately it is complicated by the number of different meters and manufacturers, an the different ways they represent their BG data.

Rest assured that although it may take some time, we are working on this. Also - if anyone has any experience with this, or would like to lend a hand then please get in touch.

Thanks,

Simon

Hi Johnwb & Simon,

I'm still working on the OneTouch at the moment and have got all parts of the UltraEasy working - just need to decide how much error checking I want to do for the communication between PC and meter and it should be finished. Unfortunately I've got a busy few weeks at the moment, decorating, best man at a wedding, birthday nights out, etc but I will definitely get it finished.

I looked at the UltraSmart briefly and can send commands back and forth, but figuring out the data is a bit more complicated for it Sad

I might go and make a thread detailing how I've done this so far, and how people with different meters can help since these are the only two meters I have at the moment and also so that others can add any of their programming knowledge.

Cheers,

NiVZ

Hi Simon,
I'm really enjoying using the graphs and charts. Can I request another? Could the BG Targets (pie) chart be extended so that we can have a pie chart for specific types of entry (e.g one for "breakfast" one for "lunch" etc). It would be really useful in showing/comparing whether over time there are problems at specific points in the day. Thanks!

Hi Stew - sure thing, I'll work on this ASAP.

One thought - the 'Daily Trend' chart gives some of what you ask for, e.g. showing where your average readings fall over the day - is this what you after, or was it more the percentages over/on/below target at different times during the day?

Thanks,

Simon

Hi Simon

Thanks Simon. Its the percentage thing I'm interested in (I had the facility in the Excel spreadsheet I used before the online diary came along and I find I miss it). I think that a pie chart would complement the daily trend chart.
