Hi,

We have released a first draft of mobile capabilities for the site. Currently the mobile capabilities are fairly limited' you can login and logout from the site, and when logged in you can browse the Carbohydrate Portion lists as well as search for a specific food item.

As there are many different mobile devices on the market, all with slightly different web browsing functions, we need you to test out the site on your own mobile devices and provide feedback on how the site looks and functions on them.

To get started, point your mobile web browser at www.dafneonline.co.uk - it should automatically detect that you are visiting from a mobile device and show you the mobile login screen. If, however the normal site home page is displayed, let us know what device you are using here, so we can research how to implement the mobile functions for your particular device.

You can log in to the mobile site with your usual username and password, and browse/search the CP lists by 'clicking' on the appropriate links.

As always, we value your feedback so please let us know, either on this or other posts, or via email what you think of the mobile site, as well as which other parts of the main site you would like to see 'going mobile'

Thanks,

Simon

Wow, this works really well. I've just made my first "mobile" diary entry on my Nokia E51. This is going to be so convenient when out and about.

The mobile home page, diary and carb counter look good on the E51 using IE and Opera Mini.

Thanks for all your hard work!

we have now added the forums to the mobile site. Can people PLEASE try accessing the site on their mobiles and feed back any issues. I'm sure there will be some since mobile phone browsers vary greatly in their functionalilty. It would be good to know if it does work on a wide range of phones.

Hello,

just tested and works fine in Opera Mini on my Nokia 5310.

The default browser works too, but I can see a '&nbsp' in plain text between the Forums and Logout link. There are also '&nbsp' showing on the Back, Home and Logout links at the bottom of the carb counting page.

This is excellent work tho - very handy to have this on the move ;o)

thanks for the feedback, I will look into the issue you have highlighted. The '&nbsp' is formatting used to add a 'space' making the page line up better and hopefully look better. All browsers 'should' support it, its possible there is an error in the definition of the page.

Hi Marke, it's not really a problem, just a cosmetic issue. I downloaded the Nokia SDK which has a phone emulator you can use in Windows and it showed the same thing. Maybe something common to Nokia's own built-in browser Surprised(

Hi, I removed the nbsp but then thought that its probably used in lots of places on the site :-( So I have now registered with the nokia site and will download their SDK to see if I can resolve the issue some other way. As soon as I have worked out what needs to be done I will let you know.

I thought about developing this myself a year ago when I did dafne - thanks so much for getting this up and running - for me this will change my life and is probably one of the best uses of technology ever. Whoever created it is a legend. I have not even used the mobile device but I am so excited to do so particularly as I am so bad at recording my results in the dafne book. It almost makes diabetes cool! Cannot wait to get started on my blackeberry. The carb counter is soooooooooooooooo good as I always struggle to keep control when out in restuarents and now can just pull out my phone and get the amount of carb for everything I am eating without pulling out the DAFNE book.

Cheers to all involved

Great, will be really handy for when i'm out & about to record BG levels & carb counting. I use Sony Ericsson k660i and it seems to be working fine for me. Thanks a lot!
