Does anybody know how many carbs are in a low GI bread?

Typically a slice of bought brown bread has 15 to 17g of carbohydrate per slice. Or 40g of carbs per 100g of bread. Hope this helps. Andy

Hi Joan29
Low GI does not necessarily mean low carbs so you need to check. Low GI usually means a more complex type of carbs that take longer to digest sometimes because of a higher fibre content. Without looking at packet, eg if eating out, my standard is bread is 40% carbs by weight, therefore if you can weight the bread then times 40% to give you the carb content you will be pretty close. Carbs are carbs whichever way you look at it.
Cheers

Try Livlife bread. 3.8 g / slice tastes good too. Online from Waitrose/Ocacdo or http://www.livlifefoods.co.uk

In most supermarkets they sell Burgen linseed bread, it's low GI from what I'm told and it's 11g a slice. It's really nice.
