Hi all Smile i'm new here as just got my code for completing "DAFNE" i've had type 1 since feb 95 and have had few problems, im wandering if anyone else gets lumps from where they have just injected? and plus the really painful stinging ( i have to pull out the needle whilest injecting as the pain is PAINful) im 38yrs and most pain i can bare but this is just ouchhhhhhhhh just wandering if anyone else out there with type 1 has similar problems as this? i would appreciate your views etc, and also i have a big meal either breakfast lunch or dinner and my insulion doesnt absorb properly, and i go up in the 20mmol range sometimes 30's then i have to take another jab to help bring me down then the earlier jab sometimes decides to kick in hypooooooooooo Sad thx in advance

Hi Steve,

Pre-DAFNE I sometimes got small raised swellings when I injected. I was advised it could be due to where I was injecting and the fact that being a bit skinny I did not have much fatty area to inject into. I now inject in such wierd places, for me anyway, as under my arms rather on top (bingo wing area, for all the ladies out there!!), the sides of my stomach area rather than the front (love handles) and my upper inner leg rather than upper thigh. This has made a big difference.

I also get stinging occasionally, another side effect of having less fatty tissue I think. I assume you always use a new needle for each injection, if not that may help?
From your mentioning about the insulin absorbtion I would think you may be using the same sites too often and this is affecting your blood glucose. I certainly saw a difference when I started using the sites as described above.

thx for replying to my post Smile well firstly gimme some of those bingo wings please, (joke) im too on thinny side well at 6ft 4in and 13 stone my wii fit told me i was an ideal weight lol, well i have tried all over my body and alternating sites too, but i recently got told that smokers can have an insulin resistance Sad phew i dont think i could give up though (no will power) i have to say that o thought that i knew all about my condition and oooops how wrong was i lol, well being a man (who hates to admit hes wrong) this one i had too, the "dafne" course i attended end july has shown me million things more about type 1's and throughly enjoyed my week there, shame it had to end Sad i have even tried weird places too ( injecting that is) lol, just curious here! what meter do you use? i use the one touch ultra smart, that keeps all your carbs/insulin etc got this on the course too (it was like xmas) , well could ramble on here but wifes just dished tea up Smile thx again for your input too,
